2003 PROJECT

On December 17, 2003 we will mark the 100 anniversary of powered flight.

In the past 100 years, man has flown through the sound barrier and up to Mach 3 plus in 'air breathing' aircraft and at Mach 14 in space craft.  We can hover, fly upside down and even fly backwards. Our public flight safety record exceeds that of the automobile and even the horse.

A great deal of this development happened in the San Fernando Valley but for the most part the sites where this history was made are now redeveloped. To commemorate this great history before we lose it forever, we plan to create a time line of aviation related events for this 100 year period, to document the history as it occurred in the San Fernando Valley area.  We plan for this information to be finalized and published in time for the anniversary of manned flight, securing that history in print for future reference.

If you have information to be included in this effort please contact the web master at this site.

Thank you.
