A letter to the Walt Disney Company....I'm not sure whether it got mailed or not.

Walt Disney Company Burbank, CA

Sirs,

I am aware that your company now owns most of the former Grand Central Airport facility in Glendale. On that property are two hangars and the terminal building, still in their original locations. I am sure that in general way you are aware of the historic value of these buildings. However, you may not be aware that with the destruction of the Lockheed Skunkworks and the Pacific Air Motive plant and with the imminent destruction of the original terminal building at Burbank airport, you now have control of the last intact building from the Golden Age of aviation, in fact of any age of historic aviation in the San Fernando Valley. You may also know that there has been a continuous history of aviation innovation, design and manufacturing in the Burbank/Glendale area from 1916 until the early 90's, when we lost Lockheed and most other aviation related businesses from the area.

As your Grand Central Terminal building is the last physical structure representing all of that great history, I feel it is imperative that it be dedicated to the public presentation of that great heritage. As a long time Director of the Burbank Aviation Museum, I urge you to promote the use of the building toward this end. I also offer my help in any way possible.

I look forward to discussing with you any and all possibilities for using the Grand Central terminal building to celebrate our wonderful local aviation heritage.

John R. Dickson

Director, Burbank Aviation Museum (818) 845-3300
