Northrop Aeronautical Institute was established by Jack Northrop in 1942 and opened for classes in 1946. The school became independent from the Northrop Aircraft corporation in 1953. The name was changed first to Northrop Institute of Technology in 1954 and then to Northrop University in 1971. The University was located at 1155 W. Arbor Vitae St, Inglewood, CA. |
| The "American Hall of Aviation History" was established in 1975 to house the David D. Hatfield collection of aviation history and to accept donations from individuals and corporations. Donations were tax deductible. It once housed over half a million pieces of historic value. |
